Federal agencies are constantly being asked to evaluate how their security infrastructure stands up against the cyber threats of the future. At HPE Protect 2016, September 14-16, more than 2,000 industry experts convene to explore an integrated approach to public and private sector security challenges and opportunities.
The Public Sector Track will focus on enhancing government’s overall cybersecurity readiness and addressing critical priority areas unique to agencies, from protecting and managing data to enabling correct access. Here is a sneak preview of three topics you can expect to explore further:
1) Data Analytics – Data is moving faster and more frequently than ever before. Agencies need to find ways to synthesize this data to deliver meaningful insights and visibility across every part of their organization. For example, HPE ArcSight Data Platform (ADP) 2.0, which was announced today, provides government entities with the flexibility and scalability to streamline their security operations and transform the data collection process. HPE ADP 2.0 is the industry’s first open architecture that seamlessly integrates with third-party platforms enabling data to be sent to any location, such as HPE ArcSight ESM or Hadoop.
2) Data Security – Data can and will be stolen in some way, shape or form. The question federal agencies need to ask is how they can protect their most sensitive information in the event of an attack. Encryption is critically important to mission assurance and national security, since it makes stolen data useless to cybercriminals. An end-to-end data security approach that leverages format preserving encryption (FPE) and tokenization is essential in protecting data at all levels and locations, while still making it accessible for processing and analytics. In addition, organizations must incorporate high-performance cryptography and key management to ensure that access to the information does not fall into the wrong hands.
3) Application Security – Agencies can now discover, prioritize and remediate software flaws quicker and more accurately than ever before by leveraging solutions that constantly check for vulnerabilities through audits and status reports. Tools like HPE’s Fortify on Demand provide routine automatic audits and security tests and can help government organizations be more aware of the status of their applications at all times.
